Missions

Missions have always been a high priority at South Oaks. Through evangelism training, RA's, GA's and Mission Friends, as well as mission projects and trips, South Oaks puts into action the command of Christ to "go and make disciples of all nations" with the gospel of Christ.

Worship

South Oaks has a heart for worship! Our worship services offer a combination of contemporary praise and worship songs blended with the tried and true hymns of our faith. The down-to-earth sermons proclaim the word of God and exalt Jesus Christ as lord. There are many opportunities for your family to learn the importance of worship and music education through our choirs and instrumental programs.

Men

The Men of South Oaks desire to lead their families and our church to serve God. Through an active prayer ministry, retreats, and conferences, they expand the ministries of our church as they grow spiritually.   A new B-Men's group meets on the second Thursday evening of every month for food and fellowship, and to plan mission events.  Recently they worked on a cabin at Riverbend Retreat Center in Glen Rose to complete a painting job for the encampment.  The group enjoys serving together and looking for opportunities to share their gifts in serving the Lord.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2nd, 2007 the men of South Oaks attended the Annual Fish Fry at Riverbend to hear nationally renowned speaker Dennis Swanberg.  This was the 40th Annual Riverbend Fish Fry, making it the longest continually running annual event anywhere in Southern Baptist Life!  It was also one of the largest they've ever had!  We had 55, count 'em, FIFTY FIVE!!!! men from South Oaks!  That's the largest number of men we've ever taken to this event!  A VERY LARGE number of these men we took included a large number who rode their motorcycles, making us look like a wild gang of cyclists about to overtake the camp when we arrived! (Thanks, Paul, for all your great outreach efforts to make this happen!)

Children

The purpose of our Children's & Preschool Ministry is to provide children a healthy, wholesome environment and to teach Biblical principles for daily living. Our goal is to help nurture each child into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Bible stories, object lessons, activities, and play we are teaching the children about the love of Jesus. We offer weekly Sunday School, children's choir, mission activities, and an exciting monthly Children's worship event (Ground Zero and Sub Zero). South Oaks also works diligently to provide excellent childcare during worship services.
