Dr. Dan Curry has been our pastor since 1992. He has a true shepherd's heart; his desire to lead all people in this community into a loving and committed relationship with Jesus Christ is unmistakable. Dr. Dan grew up as a son of a pastor and lived in west Texas before attending Wayland Baptist University. Before God led him to 
South Oaks, he completed both of his graduate degrees at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and pastored several churches. He and Alicia have been married for 30 years and have three children along with a brand new addition, their very first grandchild - Emma Katherine! (Robin & Jill's daughter.) So now Dr. Dan & Alicia are keeping the roads hot between here and Tulsa as they do their part in learning the ropes of the grandparent jobs, and are loving it! Their children are: Robin and his wife Jill, Craig and his wife Fallon, and Crystal and her husband Tommy. Dr. Dan's desire for South Oaks is to be able to reach out to our community and to meet the needs of our members.

You will find as you get to know Dr. Dan better that he is, as much as anything else, a people person. He enjoys being around where the people are, telling stories, listening to your stories, and enjoying the fellowship and friendship that have been developed from the 15+ year foundation that has been laid in his fruitful ministry here. Josh Vaughan

Josh Vaughan graduated from Houston Baptist University in 2003 and is currently pursuing a Masters degree at Southwestern Seminary. His heart for students developed while working with Jr. High students in Galveston, Texas. Since then, Josh has worked with students in a variety of settings as an Athletic Director and even a bus driver in Mansfield I.S.D. In addition, he served with two student ministries in the Houston area where he emphasized building Christian community and involving students in service to their church and community. He is passionate about leading students to develop strong Christian character as a vital expression of their relationship with God. Josh serves with his wife Christi and son Zakary.

Julie McCown
Minister of Weekday Education

Julie McCown has a heart for preschool children that shows in all she does. She is the director of our Child Development Center, (CDC), and our Minister of Weekday Education. Julie has a BA in Child Development from Texas Tech and she has served for 10 years as a CDC Director for two different churches. She is currently working on a Master’s in Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University in response to her call to work with preschool children and their families. Julie and her husband, Doug, have been members since 2001. They have two children, Margaret and Frank. We are blessed to have someone of Julie’s expertise to minister to our young families.
