The Children’s Ministry at South Oaks Baptist Church provides quality Christian programs and education…
“So they may have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ Himself. In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” – Colossians 2:2-3
Our goal is that children will find Jesus and develop a clear understanding of what He did for them on the cross and how they can have a personal relationship with Him today. Through creative programming and numerous special events, the children at South Oaks have fun learning about God’s plan for their lives.
Theologically sound curriculum’s are used to expose children to God’s Word and equip them to face the challenges and temptations of today’s world. Developing confidence in the Father’s plan for their lives is critical in growing strong Christian kids. Adult leaders are committed and trained to guide children in a growing relationship with Him.
Bible Study Hour – 9:15 a.m.
All children in 1st – 6th grades are encouraged to begin Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. with age appropriate Bible activities, stories, songs and much more! From 9:15-9:30 all children meet together for “Jump Start” before going to classes. Adult teachers are committed to building relationships with kids and equipping them to face the challenges of today’s world.
Worship Hour – 10:30 a.m.
Following Bible study, children are invited to worship with their families at 10:30 a.m. All aspects of the service are designed to teach children how to worship God as part of the church family. Song selections and sermon topics are all “family friendly” and full participation is encouraged for all ages.
Wednesday nights at South Oaks are centered around missions and music. All of these activities take place from 6:00-7:30 pm. Parents are invited to attend Prayer Meeting with the pastor, Worship Choir rehearsal, or various Bible study classes offered seasonally throughout the year.

G.A.s (Girls in Action) – 6:45 p.m.
G.A.s is a branch of the WMU designed specifically for 1st – 6th grade girls. Through participation in G.A.s, girls grow in their knowledge, understanding and application of the Bible. They also learn from the example of missionaries, believers and hands-on mission action what it means to actively engage in ministering to others with the compassion of Christ.
R.A.s (Royal Ambassadors) – 6:45 p.m.
R.A.s is a Southern Baptist missions education organization for boys in 1st – 6th grades. Lads (1st-3rd) and Crusaders (4th-6th) learn Bible truths, study missions, and learn life skills in an “all boy” setting each week.
We are thrilled to accommodate any children who wish to follow Christ’s example of baptism. We do require the following conditions be met:
- A meeting with the Children’s Minister and/or Pastor to confirm the child’s understanding of salvation and purpose for baptism.
- Enrollment in a “New Christians Class” offered on a rotating basis.
Holidays including Christmas and Easter are recognized for their value and meaning to believers in Jesus Christ. We celebrate His birth, death, burial, and resurrection as a church and support the Christian family in teaching the true meaning of these holidays to children of all ages. Special events during the holidays will serve to reinforce these ideas and create lasting memories for families at South Oaks.
Throughout the year, special events are offered for the children to participate in for fun and to learn more about our Savior.
