As a church, we’re adopting R F Patterson Elementary to build relationships and minister to the families – primarily through a one-on-one mentoring program. We will also be looking for ways to come alongside the faculty and staff to support and encourage throughout the school year.

The one-on-one mentoring program is called Kids Hope USA, it is a faith based mentoring program for elementary schools that honors the separation between church and state while displaying Jesus by loving them.

The moto for Kids Hope USA is One child. One hour. One church, One school. Will you prayerfully consider joining us in this incredible opportunity?

What is Kids Hope USA?

Kids Hope is one child, one person 16 years or older, one hour a week, for one school year. As a mentor you’ll be trained to help meet the social, emotional and academic needs of a child who needs some additional support through a one-on-one, Jesus with skin on relationship. KIDS HOPE USA mentors spend just one hour per week, reading, talking, playing and listening to a child at school. By helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed. These children need someone who can be present at the critical time in their lives when values are formed, when self-esteem is developed, and when basic academic and problem-solving skills are acquired. They need someone who won’t let them down. You can be the one.

How else can I help?

Prayer is a key foundation for the program. Each adult-child relationship will be wrapped in prayer by a behind the scenes prayer partner from our church. So – if you want to get involved and can’t meet the time commitment of a one hour each week mentor you can be involved as a prayer partner. Through your prayer ministry you will have a huge investment in the lives of the child as well as the mentor. You will be an invaluable third person in this relationship.

Volunteer – Not only will we be mentoring children, we will be an active presence on the campus of RF Patterson. We want to be homeroom parents, greeters, substitute teachers, and other volunteers to meet the needs of the school.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation – We want the staff to know that we care for them as well, through a series of gestures, cards, gifts, luncheons, prayers, and volunteers.
