South Oaks Preschool Ministry is committed to providing a safe and fun learning environment where preschoolers can experience God’s unconditional love. We want to partner with the parents in laying a foundation of faith for preschoolers as well as support the parents in their role as spiritual leader in their family. While preschoolers are at church, they will be learning Biblical truths through Bible stories, music, and centers. This foundation will better equip them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior when they are older.
The preschool ministry is open to children from birth to kindergarten. Children must be registered by a parent or guardian who receives a silent paging system or tag for security purposes.
South Oaks works diligently to provide excellent childcare during worship services for children birth through 4 years old.
Sunday School – 9:15 a.m.
Developmentally appropriate Bible truths are taught through small and group activities. LifeWay curriculum is implemented. Preschoolers must be registered by a parent/guardian who receives a silent paging system or tag for security purposes.
Extended Care – 10:30 a.m.
Extended care is provided during the worship services for children from birth through three years old. If you have a four year old who is not quite ready to attend worship with you, please discuss this with the Minister to Preschool Families to determine a plan for your child.
Worship/Big Church – 10:30 a.m.
What an awesome responsibility and privilege parents have to teach their children to worship God! Children four years old by September 1st accompany their parents to the worship service. When promoting from the “Giraffe class,” South Oaks provides your child a worship bag with appropriate items to aid your child during the worship service. There is a “Camp Big Enough” meeting for parents and children in August before promotion.
Parents are invited to participate in this celebration to dedicate themselves to raising their children according to God’s plan. We as a church will join in dedicating ourselves to support you in your role as the spiritual leader of your child. This celebration consists of scripture reading and prayer and is usually done two times a year. This celebration is held on Mothers Day and in the fall, if needed. Due to the celebration involving a commitment between the children and the family, we ask that only church members participate. If you are not a church member, please talk with the Minister of Preschool Families for other options to dedicate your child.
Preschool Choir – 6:00-6:45 p.m. during the school year (September-May)
Preschool Choir is offered for children ages 4-Kindergarten. This is an opportunity for preschoolers to worship God with songs and instruments as they learn more about the characteristics of God. They will enjoy singing, clapping, moving, and playing rhythm instruments in a variety of activities as they learn biblical truths.
Mission Friends – 6:45 p.m. during the school year
Mission Friends provides an environment where children can get a glimpse of different kinds of people and cultures through learning activities that focus on missions. Mission Friends helps teach children to pray for themselves and for others. It is also an opportunity for preschoolers to begin to learn about serving others as they hear stories of missionaries serving throughout the world. This encourages them to move from a self-focus view to a biblical worldview as they hear of the needs of others.
